Peeped this on HipHopUpdate. Phonte of Little Brother gave his opinion via Twitter on a lot of what’s going on with newer MCs. I must say I concur. Check it.
“Between Cudi “retiring” and C Ham stealin beats, this new class of MCs are summa the most whiny, passive-aggressive, beta male niggas ever. A big part of me though, wonders where we (the older heads) failed this new generation. They OBVIOUSLY missed a few lessons, and it shows. I know that Kanye opened the floodgates for the male diva/drama queen shit in hip-hop, but he had the talent and sales to back it up. These new niggas be havin the ego of Kanye, the greasy talk of 50……and the catalogue of Spliff Star. (c) @VonPea
For the record though, I’m a fan of Black Milk, Jay Electronica, Tanya Morgan, and B.o.B. They seem like genuine cats with a love 4 the art. On Blu: I think cat is incredibly dope, although I’m not sure signing to WB was the best decision. I’m wishing the brother the best though. Shout out to Pac Div as well, them niggas raw. I hope Motown does right by them boys. Ditto for Wale and Interscope, he’s a talented cat. Shout out to my niggas Naledge and Double O too; real good, talented brothers right there.”
