Little stuff like this contributes to the bad relations between law enforcement and the community. I thought this officer was pulling up to give a ticket. Instead, as you can see, he is parking in a no parking zone, and proceeding to go into Starbucks to get a coffee. And, as you can see, there’s enough room behind the car in front of him to at least get some of the car in the legal parking zone.
Now let that have had been me in that same spot when that officer wanted to come and get his coffee. I would have had a ticket. I know this isn’t that big of a deal, but little stuff like this is what contributes to the peoples hatred of police. Being the people who enforce the laws, they should be held to a higher standard of following the laws while on duty. When they do stuff like this, it makes average citizens (such as myself) frustrated. It conjures up the 1000’s of times I’ve done something similar, leaving the car for just minutes, only to come back and find a ticket on my whip. I understand that cops have a hard job, and they deserve some perks, but to me stuff like this is unacceptable.
If you and I as civilians can be ticketed, booted, or even towed for parking there for 5 ro 10 minutes while running to Starbucks, officers shouldn’t feel so above the law on while on duty to so brazenly do it either. Its not fair and it makes people mad. He could have at least pulled up a little bit….I’m just sayin’!
